It’s hard to believe we are halfway through another year…and the past three months have certainly been a bit of a rollercoaster. The thing about mission-driven founders, though, is they continue to build even during market uncertainty. When you’ve got a clear point of focus, you keep moving forward despite the surrounding turbulence. As Version One turned 10 last month, we reflected about how lucky we are to work with incredible mission-driven founders – and challenging times like this bolster our gratitude.

With that said, here’s a round up of just some of the activity happening within the V1 family this past quarter!

Funding and Accolades

Brennan Spellacy, CEO of Patch, was named to the 2022 GreenBiz 30 under 30 list. Brennan, and the entire Patch team, are on a mission to scale the carbon removal industry to reach giga-tonne scale carbon sequestration.

Booster raised $125M in Series D funding led by Rose Park Advisors, with companies including Mitsubishi Corp. and Renewable Energy Group joining the round.

Shellworks, one of our newest portfolio companies, raised $6.2 million in seed funding. They’re creating petroleum-free, compostable packaging, which “performs like plastic” but breaks down in about a year.

Inflection, a B2B marketing automation solution, raised $5M in seed funding to dethrone Marketo.

Flow launched a $725M blockchain development fund with A16z, Digital Currency Group, and other investors. The joint venture will support Flow’s 7,500+ developers with accelerators and incubators, investments and FLOW token grants.

Firstparty, a customer analytics and attribution company, raised $5.75M in seed funding.

Remio raised $4.5M in a new round of funding to expand its VR team-building platform.

Product launches

Ada shared their new features to help brands move from answer, to action, to anticipate. You can read more about the update on Ada’s blog.

Inflection announced a direct integration with Snowflake for data warehouse-based B2B marketing automation.

Tenderly introduced four new features for easier Web3 development: Web3 actions, war rooms, sandbox, and debugger chrome extension. You can read more about it here.

Outreach is now available on AWS Marketplace.

Jobber and Thumbtack are now partners to help home service businesses. You can read about the partnership here.

Lolli continues to partner with big brands like CVS and Safeway, etc. for its users to earn bitcoin rewards.

Filebase introduced support for IPFS.

Finally, we wish you a happy Canada day and happy fourth of July to those who are celebrating! Have a great summer!

Q2 2024 Portfolio in Review

We’ve officially hit the halfway point of 2024, and all we can say is… wow, this year is flying by. The entire V1 family has been pushing, hustling and going all-out, so we’d like to recognize some of the milestones and accomplishments from this quarter. As we say in every recap, this represents the tip of the iceberg; there’s a lot going on behind the scenes that we can’t talk about publicly (yet).
