Yet another year has flown by. This past quarter was a busy one, which should come as little surprise as the whole V1 family has been working hard to close out the year and position themselves for a great 2025. Cheers to the ongoing momentum of our founders and all entrepreneurs in the coming year!

But before we close the door on 2024, we want to acknowledge some of the milestones, accolades and launches that occurred in the fourth quarter. As always, this news reflects just a snapshot of the activity that can be publicly announced.

Fundraises and Accolades

Pickle Robot, a pioneer in Physical AI delivering robotic automation systems that unload trucks, announced their $50m Series B. They also shared that six customers placed orders for over 30 production robots to deploy in the first half of 2025!

Neo Financial raised a $360M Series D. We participated through our Opportunity Fund. Neo is reimagining the way Canadians manage their money with tech-first financial tools. This is an investment that’s outside of our typical early-stage sweet spot, and you can learn more about why we’re so excited about the opportunity here.

Moment Energy has been awarded a $20.3M grant by the US Department of Energy (DOE) to establish the first certified EV repurposing facility in the US. Once fully operational, Moment Energy’s Gigafactory will have an annual production capacity of 1 GWh, producing energy storage systems made from repurposed EV batteries.

Inflection has raised $7.6M in funding from existing investors, bringing total funding to $14M. They’re hosting a webinar on January 14th that covers exciting product updates and more.

Headout was certified a “Great Place to work” for 2024 (India), and we agree!

VGen celebrated their 2nd birthday with a community of nearly 53K members.

Ada was recognized by Gartner as one of the Challengers in the Emerging Market Quadrant for AI Knowledge Management Apps – underscoring their commitment to continually set new benchmarks in AI support.

Product Launches

Defined recently shipped some big updates – from wallet tracking, Defined-Bot update and UI improvements to speed boosts to make the platform the best place to trade.

Lolli launched Lolli Wallet Connect that lets users connect their Coinbase Wallet to directly earn bitcoin rewards from their retail shopping.

Jam launched “Jam for Customer Support” to start resolving customer issues 10x faster. You can read more about it here.

Dinari rolled out a fresh range of investment opportunities. Now you can invest in gold, silver, Ethereum and more, all on the blockchain via their dShares.

What’s it really going to take to scale carbon markets to meet our climate goals? Patch published a new report on how to unlock billions in carbon credit demand after talking to 400+ enterprise sustainability leaders over the last 6 months. You can download the report here.

Ada announced its partnership with Microsoft, making Ada easily available to businesses that run on Azure via the Azure Marketplace.

And last but definitely not least… a special shout out to our very own Boris Wertz who was inducted into BC Tech’s Innovators Hall of Fame! He joins a club of more than 50 distinguished pioneers within the province’s ecosystem. Congrats Boris!
