We’re thrilled to announce the third edition of “A Guide to Marketplaces.” We published our first edition five years ago and the second nearly three years ago. So much has changed since then – from the rise of B2B marketplaces to new crypto-native platforms.
Even as we explore emerging sectors like climate and crypto, we continue to be excited about marketplaces. And our work with marketplace founders and startups has continued to inform our understanding of the challenges and opportunities that these platforms face.
With over 50,000 downloads of the first two editions, we have received lots of feedback, much of which we incorporated into this new edition. You’ll find an updated section on seeding initial supply and demand, as well as an entirely revised chapter on marketplace types. We know that the landscape is ever changing but we believe that some concepts to building a marketplace are fundamental.
You can download the new edition pdf here or ePub version here.
We’d love to hear if you find this content useful. What should we expand in the next edition? Did we leave anything out? Please leave a comment below or reach out to us directly.
Finally, special thanks to our friends, Andrew Parker, Bala Subramaniam, Connor Watumull, Li Jin, Jonathan Hsu, Julia Morrongiello, and Mike Williams, for reviewing this edition. Happy reading!
