Our Top 3 Posts of 2020

Two weeks ago, Boris recapped our fund and portfolio activity in what has been a year of unprecedented hardship, innovation and human accomplishment. If you haven’t seen it already, take a look at our post, The Version One year in review and looking ahead. We also like to send off each year by sharing some of the most popular blog posts from the past 12 months.

Here’s a look back at some of our favorite content from this year:

Marketplaces

We released the third edition of our Guide to Marketplaces, three years after publishing the second edition. This guide has been our most read piece of content by far and marketplace builders find it a helpful resource. If you’re looking for more on marketplaces, check out these other popular posts this year:

Mission-driven founders

In July, we updated our thesis to reflect our focus on mission-driven founders and followed up with a more in-depth look at our definition of “a mission-driven founder.” You can also meet some of our mission-driven founders in this video

Energy/climate

One of our most meaningful posts was The Energy Revolution is (Finally) Here where we introduced energy/climate as an important category and outlined just why the time is right for building venture scale outcomes in this field. We’ve led three energy/climate investments this year: Patch and two others to be announced shortly. You can catch up on all of our other energy/climate posts here

And as always, we wrote about SaaS, healthcare, and of course, crypto

Thank you for reading our blog throughout the year. We greatly appreciate any and all feedback as we’re always striving to be better investors and content creators.

Happy reading and/or re-reading during this holiday season. See you in 2021!
