Last-mile delivery is one of those markets that looks simple at first glance—until you dig in and realize how much of it is held together by workarounds.
As quick commerce scales across India, delivery volumes are exploding. Companies want to deliver more. But the vehicles powering those deliveries haven’t really kept up. Most are still everyday two-wheelers doing a job they were never designed to do. The outcome is predictable: roughly one-third of delivery bikes break down due to overload. And operators deal with more downtime, inconsistent service, and higher cost per order.
That’s why we’re excited to lead the seed round in Pluto Mobility, a Delhi-based company building delivery-grade electric vehicles purpose-built for last-mile logistics.
Built for delivery—by design
Pluto is building fully covered, scooter-sized three-wheel electric delivery vehicles designed for real-world delivery—not retrofitted after the fact. The result is a meaningful jump in performance over standard delivery bikes:
Why we’re excited
What really stood out to us is how well Pluto understands the day-to-day reality of last-mile delivery. They’re designing vehicles around how deliveries actually happen on the ground, creating a more reliable and scalable foundation for quick commerce players.
Pluto was founded by Akshat Bhatia and Himanshu Panda, and with this seed round the company will continue advancing vehicle engineering, scaling manufacturing, expanding the team, and launching pilot deployments across e-commerce and quick-commerce use cases in India. They plan to begin pilot deployments this year.
We believe that Pluto is building exactly what the quick commerce market has been missing and we’re thrilled to partner with them on this journey.
